US and Foreign Passport Apostille

Why do I need an apostille on a national passport?

An apostille on the USA and foreign passport is required to conduct legal transactions in countries – members of the Hague Apostille Convention. If you plan to get married, retire, buy a property or establish a business abroad, you will be asked to provide an apostilled copy of a passport. An apostille is always processed on a notarized color copy of a passport. Usually, only the first two pages with personal information are needed, although some countries may require copies of all pages to be apostilled. Before you send us a notarized copy of your passport for an apostille, please check the requirements of the country that is requesting it.

How can I get an apostille on a passport?

You should first make a color copy of your US or foreign passport and make an appointment with a notary public. You will be asked to sign a copy of your passport in the presence of the notary public before he/she can notarize it and attest your passport copy with the seal and notarial affidavit. Then you can mail your notarized passport copy to our office for an apostille. We can apostille US passports but also copes of other national passports, including but not limited to passports from Russia, China, India, Mexico, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Panama, South Africa, etc. If you have a passport issued by a country - member of the Hague Apostille Convention we can apostille it.

Please note that an apostille on a passport is always processed by the same state where your passport copy was notarized. So, if you had your passport copy notarized by a notary public in New York, an apostille on your document will be issued by the State of New York. Please note that New York and a few other US states (Hawaii, Kentucky, Maryland, and Tennessee) require that a notarized document should also be authenticated by the local County Clerk.
