Georgia Power of Attorney Apostille in Atlanta

Do you need to obtain an apostille on a Power of Attorney (POA) in Atlanta?

A Power of Attorney is a legal document whereby one individual, called the “Agent," is given authority to act on behalf of another individual, called the “Principal." A Power of Attorney is used to allow the Agent to sign legal documents that the Principal cannot sign in person for one reason or another, complete financial transactions on behalf of the Principle, or make health care decisions.  If you have prepared your Power of Attorney (POA) in the state of Georgia but intend to use it in a foreign country – a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, then your Power of Attorney should receive Georgia apostille to become legally admissible abroad.

Obtaining an apostille in Atlanta on your Power of Attorney drafted in Georgia is easy if you let Global Apostille handle it. Before mailing or bringing to us your Power of Attorney make sure it meets the following basic requirements for a Power of Attorney in Georgia:

1. Your document must be signed by the principal.
2. It must be signed by one or more witnesses.
3. It must be signed by a Georgia notary public or other person authorized to administer oaths. The notary may not be a witness.
4. The principal, witnesses, and notary must all be present when they sign a Power of Attorney.

When selecting an attorney to prepare your POA, make sure the chosen attorney has experience in a country where you need to use your Power of Attorney to ensure it is prepared in compliance with the laws of that country.  For example, your Power of Attorney is intended for use in Ukraine, then it’s best to choose a Ukrainian Attorney to prepare your document. Also, we recommend that a Power of Attorney going to a foreign country is prepared in both languages. Thus, a POA intended for Ukraine must be prepared in Ukrainian and English languages.

If your Power of Attorney initially was done in a foreign language, we advise having it translated into English. In Georgia, a Power of Attorney executed in a foreign language is acceptable as long as the document has been signed, notarized, and attested with a proper notarial affidavit in the English language. If you need assistance finding a bilingual attorney or a translator to prepare your Power of Attorney in Georgia, please contact Global Apostille.

Obtaining an apostille on Power of Attorney is a complicated process and should always be handled by professionals only. Remember that trusting your important documents to incompetent people unfamiliar with the specifics of each country, may lead you to extra expenses, and delays of your important business by weeks, or even months. Complicated matters must be handled by experts, and that’s why we recommend that you trust Global Apostille to take care of processing an apostille on your Power of Attorney in Atlanta.
