Apostille on a Doctor’s Letter

Do you need to obtain an apostille on a Doctor’s Letter?

If you are planning to move to another country for work, studies, retirement, or adoption, etc. you will be asked to provide an apostilled certificate from your doctor confirming that you are in good health. An apostilled Doctor’s Letter is often requested for work visa applications and immigrant visas.

How can I get an apostille on a Doctor’s Letter?

Before we can apply for an apostille for your Doctor’s Letter, you will need to have it notarized. If the clinic that issued your Doctor’s Letter does not have an in-house notary public, you will need to arrange for a traveling notary to come to the clinic and meet with the doctor signing your medical letter. When choosing a notary public, please pick one with years of experience in notarizing documents for use abroad. Please verify that a notarized Doctor’s Letter has a notary’s signature, notary stamp, the date, and the applicable notarial affidavit. Once you have your Doctor’s Letter notarized, please mail it to our office for apostille processing. Note, that the apostille for your Doctor’s Letter will be processed by the Secretary of State in the state where it was issued and notarized. So, if your Doctor’s Letter was issued and notarized in California, the apostille will be processed by the state of California. Or, if your medical letter was notarized in New Jersey, the New Jersey Secretary of State will issue the apostille.

Obtaining an apostille on a Doctor’s Letter is a complex process and should only be handled by professionals.
