Does your Degree need an Apostille?
If you intend to continue your education or work abroad, you will be asked to provide an Apostille on your Degree. We process Apostilles on Degrees issued by all University systems in the United States as well as by Universities from over 117 countries participating in the Hague Apostille Convention of 1961.
To start the process, first, contact your School’s Registrar Office and let them know that you need your Degree to be signed and notarized. We recommend checking with the country where you intend to use your Degree, on their requirements for the Degree. Some countries accept only the original Degree, while others find the color copy sufficient. Also, please check with the College or University about their policy on notarizing. Most schools have an in-house public notary. If your school does not have a notary on staff, you can arrange for a mobile notary to come to your school and meet with the Registrar when it’s convenient for the Registrar. The Registrar can either sign and notarize the back of the degree or attach a College/University letterhead attesting to the attached degree. The notary is required to apply proper notarial laws of his/her State for the State office to authenticate your Degree.
Before starting an Apostille process check carefully the requirements of the country of your destination regarding your Degree and if you can use a color copy, or an original is required. Some countries (like Mexico, Saudi Arabia, or Thailand) will require your original Degree to be signed and notarized, others (like Malaysia or South Korea) will accept a certified color copy.
Obtaining an apostille can be intricate. Avoid leaving this task for inexperienced staff or non-professionals who are not fully aware of the complexities of the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your application may be rejected, and you lose time and money. Make a better choice!
