Why do I need an apostille on documents issued by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB)?
If you operate alcohol, tobacco, or firearms and ammunition-related business you are required to have a permit or another form of a certificate that authorizes your business for operations. This permit is issued by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). The TTB also issues certificates that confirm that other goods (including food items, cosmetics, medical devices, etc.) are legally sold or distributed in the open market without any restrictions and approved by the regulatory authorities in the country of their origin. This certificate called a Certificate of Free Sale or a Certificate for Export requires an apostille if the goods are intended for export to the countries – members of the Apostille Hague Convention.
How can I get an apostille on the Certificate of Free Sale, or other documents issued by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB)?
Before you request an apostille on the Certificate of Free Sale, check with the authority requesting it where you can obtain this document. Depending on the goods you want to export and the country you plan to export to, you can obtain your Certificate of Free Sale from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture, State governments, or Chambers of Commerce.
Certificates of Free Sale need to be notarized by the states where they were issued before they could be submitted for apostille processing. If a Certificate of Free Sale was issued by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) an apostille on it will be processed by the United States Department of State Authentication Office in Washington, DC. In addition to a Certificate of Free Sale apostille, we also process apostille for the following documents:
• Certificate of Authenticity
• Certificate of Health
• Certificate of Manufacturing Process
• Certificate of Origin and/or Age
• Certificate of Sanitation
• Sanitary Statement/Certificate
• Consolidated Wine Export Certificate (for wine exported to China)
• APEC Model Wine Certificate
Obtaining an apostille on documents issued by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) is a complex process and should only be handled by professionals. Remember that trusting your important documents to incompetent people unfamiliar with the specifics of each country, may lead you to additional expenses, and delays of your important business by weeks, or even months. That’s why we recommend that you should let Global Apostille take care of obtaining an apostille on your Certificate of Free Sale and other TTB issued documents.
